Nationwide Support Local Community Transport Chartity

The Nationwide Building Society Peacehaven branch, this year, are supporting CTLA Community Transport for their 2017 activity.

Employees at Nationwide are able to take up to two days volunteering per year and Branch Manager Samantha White and her team decided that they would let their members vote for who they wanted to see the Peacehaven branch raise money for.

Samantha Dartnall, Branch Manager at Nationwide’s Peacehaven branch commented: “We had many suggestions but the CTLA Community Transport charity was chosen, as they are just such a fantastic cause. All of my team have volunteered to go out on the community buses and we are looking forward to making a real difference”.

CTLA is the only accessible transport charity of its kind covering the Havens and Lewes District and delivers over 70,000 passenger journeys each year to isolated or vulnerable residents – meeting the needs that public transport leaves unmet.

Gemma Flood and Amber Wardle work in the Peacehaven branch and met CTLA service users last week. They were overwhelmed by how vital the front-charity is for so many people.

Gemma Flood, Customer Representative at Nationwide’s Peacehaven branch commented: “Practically everyone we spoke to described the service as a life-saver. We had no idea how far reaching and varied the CTLA Community Transport support is. From taking additional needs children to school and college, to providing great trips out to prevent loneliness, it’s an amazing charity.”

Inspired by their visit, the Peacehaven branch held a cake sale to kick off their campaign, selling treats to staff and customers. The branch staff will assist at many further fundraising events including a fashion show and a Santa bus during the festive period.

Since 2012, Nationwide Building Society has donated more than £15 million to thousands of causes across the UK and actively encourage their staff to help strengthen and make a real difference to the communities around them.
