Visitors to Arundel Castle in West Sussex this weekend were treated to a brand new event.
The Norman Knight’s Tournament saw close combat fighting, breath-taking falconry displays and have-a-go-archery on Saturday 09 and Sunday 10 July.
The Raven Tor Living History Group brought the 12th Century to life with special attention given to historical accuracy from the 45-pound chain mail the knights wore, to the swords, spears, axes and maces they wielded at each other!
The next event to take place at Arundel Castle will be the International Jousting and Medieval Tournament on 26-31 July. Truly the highlight of the Castle’s events calendar, the week-long competition will see knights fly in from around the world to represent the Kingdoms of England, France, Norway and Poland.
In a new twist to this year’s tournament, a female jouster will compete for the first time – Marie Baron will represent the Kingdom of France with real-life partner Luc Petillot. For more information, please visit http://www.arundelcastle.org/whats-on/international-joust-week-26-to-31-july.html.
