Following record breaking sales for the region’s festive shows, many of the area’s top theatres have made the decision to open sales for next Christmas’s shows already, even though the casting of the major stars will not be completed for several months.
From Friday 4th December until Sunday 3rd January 2016, Worthing’s Pavilion Theatre, who continue with their incredibly successful partnership with Paul Holman Associates, will stage Cinderella. Glass slippers and a spell that breaks at midnight means it’s time to charm audiences with the classic fairytale of the downtrodden girl forced to serve her jealous step sisters. With best buddy Buttons and the magic of a Fairy Godmother on hand, Cinderella’s certain to escape the misery of her dastardly diva sisters and find true love in the arms of a dashing Prince…it’s just the journey getting there that may be a little rocky and raucous before romancing reigns supreme.
Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Theatre invites this year’s audience to journey with them to Neverland as the same creative team that bought us last year’s Beauty and the Beast (and the last 12 Devonshire Park Theatre pantomimes!) present Peter Pan from Friday 11th December 2015 to Sunday 10th January 2016. The show promises all our favourite characters from the J.M. Barrie fairytale combined with all the best elements of traditional pantomime plus live music, spectacular costumes, singing, dancing, comedy and one or two surprises along the way.
Next Christmas, at the White Rock Theatre in Hastings, you will have the chance to go to the most magical pantomime of them all, as they are also staging Cinderella, which runs for just 16 days from Friday December 11th to Sunday December 27th 2015. The famous rags-to-riches story will be brought magically to life in a sumptuous production which carries the White Rock Theatre’s hallmark of quality entertainment for all ages, stunning sets, outrageous costumes, and that special pantomime moment when Cinderella is transported to the Prince’s Ball with the help of a pumpkin, some mice and lots of Fairy Godmother magic.
Up in the north of the region, and (luckily) far enough away from the other two, the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells, in association with Martin Dodd and UK Productions, are sticking with the magic and they too are presenting Cinderella from Friday 11th December 2015 to Sunday 3rd January 2016. UK Productions have a reputation for theatre production of the highest quality and their pantomimes are no exception. A perfect blend of the best star names from television and stage, plus a wealth of talented performers, all backed by lavish sets and costumes go together to ensure that pantomime remains such a unique and special form of theatre.
