PLASTIC!

The controversy over the plastic issue is paramount and animals are usually the victims of this unwanted material.

The first of many plastic inventions was created in Leominster Massachusetts by Earl Silas Tupper in 1946. Tupperware was used mainly to preserve foods in air tight containers and this resulted in Tupper introducing the “Wonderlier Bowl” that gave a start to a revolutionary set of kitchen utensils. This had a knock on effect and Tupperware parties were born in the United Kingdom and the rest of the world.

Maybe this was the start of the plastic revolution and other processes were then put into action and now we have a mountain of plastic that is not user friendly.  In fact it becomes a very dangerous commodity that if we were to believe in advertising can cause fatal accidents – I refer to the ribbon of plastic that manufacturers use to secure large packaging.  If not placed in a waste bin but left on the floor, it can be a very dangerous hazard.

Everybody is doing their level best to find ways of getting rid of this commodity and as I understand there is a way out that this Government knows of – but doesn’t want to initiate the process – “Plastic Bricks” – The building trade have to manufacture house bricks and the process of grinding certain elements that make up a common brick can also include plastic which can then be processed the same way as the other ingredients.  I understand that discarded plastic water bottles are used to make house bricks.   Why not other plastics?

I suppose that we are going in the right direction but this is not the answer to all the problems when you think there are seven different types of plastic and they are as follows:  PET or PETE (Polyethylene Terephthalate)  HOPE (High-density Polyethylene)  PVC  (Polyvinyl Chloride)  LOPE (Low-density Polyethylene)  PP (Polypropylene)  PS (Polystyrene)  Other (not mentioned).

I wonder what category BANK NOTES come under?
