Have a Nice Trip!
I decided at my time of life that I should be walking more as I used to do ten years ago. The terrain is hard to conquer but is a lot safer than walking on pavements. My worry for walking on the paths in Eastbourne is that you have to constantly look down as the pavement slabs are uneven and the many paths I follow I would hazard a guess that 80% of pathways are unsafe. Roads are the same as the ESCC have over the years neglected to effect repairs to either zones. When the Tories were voted in three years ago their manifesto keyword was making the roads and pavements safer for all. Senior citizens have to be more careful because as usual nothing was done and the Tory MP that was voted to represent Eastbourne and Willingdon only appeared at social events. Unfortunately we are still governed by a Tory controlled ESCC whose manifesto is to close down well run establishments.
Closure of Libraries
This is a statement from the on-line Eastbourne Library News:
“We recognise how much people value well-regarded local services. As part of the strategy, the difficult decision has been made to close Langney, Mayfield, Ore, Pevensey Bay, Polegate, Ringmer and Willingdon Libraries after Saturday 5 May 2018. The Mobile Library Service will also stop on this day and financial support to Northiam Village Library.
More than 86% of all East Sussex residents will be within a 20 minute journey time to a library by public transport and over 99% within a 20 minute journey by car.”
Supposing the 86% of East Sussex Residents don’t have a bus service that will be able to meet this criteria that the Tory Controlled East Sussex County Council have stated. Have they done their homework to make sure this is going to be the case? Where I live there is a limited bus service and the nearest stop is a good fifteen minutes walk away. The bus has only five minutes to reach the nearest Library – that isn’t going to happen folks!
