As part of the RNLI’s community lifesaving initiative a basic VHF radio training session was held on Saturday for Sovereign Harbour berth holders.
Organised by the Sovereign Harbour Bertholders Association and presented by lifeboat Coxswain Mark Sawyer and volunteer crewman Guy Emery, this was the second session to be held, the first being oversubscribed due to its popularity. The session gave boaters basic knowledge on how to operate their radio equipment for routine traffic and also what they should do in the event of an emergency at sea, all in a private and stress free environment.
