Have your say – West Sussex Fire & Rescue Risk Management Plan

People across West Sussex are invited to have their say on the Fire & Rescue Service’s draft Community Risk Management Plan.

The plan sets out how West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service is organised to support communities, based on data analysis and professional judgement of existing and predicted risks.

Since our last risk management plan the service has gone through some significant structural change, which we widely consulted upon.

As a result, this draft plan does not include any new high impact proposals to alter how your Fire & Rescue Service operates.

It sets out the types of event that may be experienced in the county and what WSFRS plans to do to limit the physical, economic and social impacts should such incidents occur.

Lee Neale, Acting Executive Director for Communities & Public Protection and Chief Fire Officer, said: “Everything we do is designed to support communities to become safer, stronger and more resilient. Our draft Community Risk Management Plan sets out how we, as your fire and rescue service, are organised to support communities, based on data we have around the risks our county faces now and how those risks might adapt in the future.

“Please get involved – we want to hear your views.”

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service is one of 14 fire services managed within local government and is at the heart of the County Council’s Communities and Public Protection Directorate, working alongside Trading Standards, Community Professionals and Resilience and Emergencies colleagues. The establishment of this new directorate ensures we can jointly support communities to become safer, stronger and more resilient.

The consultation is due to run from Monday 11 July until midnight on Friday 5 August.
