Scheme provides affordable warmth for West Sussex homes

Vulnerable residents in West Sussex can get help to stay warm and healthy at home through a boiler replacement and insulation scheme backed by West Sussex County Council.

The Your Energy Sussex Affordable Warmth scheme has re-opened to new referrals and provides eligible households with financial support towards a new, energy-efficient boiler and insulation to warm up their home, reduce the amount of energy they use and cut their bills.

The scheme is for residents with a household income of less than £16,010 that own their home or rent it from a private landlord and receive certain income-related benefits. It is a time-limited offer, so residents should act now if they need help and believe they qualify.

Louise Goldsmith, Leader of West Sussex County Council, said: “With more than 250 boiler installations to date, this initiative is helping some of our most vulnerable residents, including those that are at risk of fuel poverty, to live in warmer homes that are comfortable and more affordable to run. The fact that the work is carried out by Sussex-based, accredited installers is an extra bonus and a boost to the local economy.”

Residents can check the full scheme eligibility criteria on the Your Energy Sussex website – www.yourenergysussex.org.uk – if they think they or somebody they know could qualify.

People can also call 0800 0355608 to speak to 1 Green Place who run the scheme on behalf of Your Energy Sussex. Their staff will verify eligibility and carry out a free assessment to check the suitability of a resident’s home and heating system. They will also assess the level of funding available.

The scheme is part of the County Council’s commitment to supporting residents at risk of fuel poverty. It is funded by the Government’s Energy Companies Obligation (ECO) and Your Energy Sussex.
