Sonia Gibson (CEO and founder at Accounting Heart)
Sonia has always loved numbers and puzzles. As a scholar, she excelled at subjects like technical drawing and woodwork. Subjects that involved problem-solving skills, economics and maths felt like a natural fit. After university, she became a trainee accountant at CSIRO but found herself very limited in that role.
After spending a few years in the job field at various companies, Sonia fell dismally out of love with being a. Her day-to-da life was far from what she had envisioned for herself. It was only much later, after spending time working in commerce, that she realised how much she missed working with business owners.
To summarise a long process of learning, growth, and stepping into her greater potential, Sonia founded Accounting Heart. The business that would win accountant of the year award and lead the way in expanding the way in which accounting is done. Sonia is an authority in her field, breaking the perceptions that the accounting world must be hard, cold, and masculine in order to be effective, precise, and successful.
