In the lead up to Mother’s Day, it was found that in 2018, the popularity of gin doubled, with over 66m bottles of gin being sold across the country. According to the Wine and Spirits Trade Association, between January and March, gin sold in UK supermarkets and shops reached 6.4m bottles, of which 2.6m (41 per cent) were sold in March, suggesting it is a popular Mother’s Day gift.
