Statement from Seaford Town Council to acknowledge the death of Isabel Stephenson

The Town Council is deeply saddened to have learnt of the death of Isabel Stephenson who introduced ‘Seaford in Bloom’

It was with immense sadness that Seaford Town Council learnt of the death of Isabel Stephenson.

Isabel will always be remembered for the contribution she gave to the town. She worked tremendously hard on making Seaford a better place by introducing ‘Seaford in Bloom’, bringing colour to the town centre which carries on today and is so often commented on and welcomed by both residents and visitors alike.

There would be a yearly ‘Seaford in Bloom’ competition for best back garden, front garden, hanging baskets, window boxes, pubs, shops, nursing homes and many more categories. Isabel also organised fundraising events to pay for the floral displays in the town and the Town Council supported by paying for the watering.

Quote from former Mayor of Seaford, Cllr Linda Wallraven:

“There was a wonderful ‘Seaford in Bloom’ awards ceremony at Dean’s Place, Alfriston and as the Mayor of Seaford 2011 to 2013 I had the pleasure of presenting some of the awards. It was a very well organised and respected event.”

The Town Council’s thoughts are with Isabel’s family and friends.
