Still time to enjoy Burgess Hill Summer Festival

After a fabulous week of activities there’s still plenty to enjoy during the final few days of Burgess Hill’s Summer Festival.

One of Ireland’s greatest ever entertainers, Dominic Kirwan, with special guest Lisa Stanley, bring their own inimitable style to the rich musical heritage of their homeland, at Martlets Hall at 7.30pm.

Also on Thursday, join two top crime fiction writers, William Shaw and PD Viner, and best-selling true crime writer and former Chief Superintendent, Graham Bartlett at Writing a Murderer, for a discussion on how they get into the heads of the bad guys and describe the horror. The event takes place on Thursday at Burgess Hill Library at 7pm, tickets cost £4 including refreshments.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday there will be a Photography Exhibition by members of Mid Sussex Camera Club, also featuring photographs by members of Creon Camera Club in Bordeaux. View them at Market Place Shopping Centre from 9am – 5pm each day.

Meet the Ancestors at Burgess Hill Library, on Friday at 10am, and glean some tips on researching your family history online with experts from the Library Service.

On Friday evening, join Flamenco dance tutor Josefa Figuera and some of her students for a demonstration of Flamenco dance moves and then try them out yourself.

Also on Friday, drop in to the Open Evening with Mid Sussex Amateur Radio Society, at Cyprus Hall, 7pm, to find out more about the fascinating world of radio communications – with a chance to talk to the radio amateur on the International Space Station, if available.

A leisurely Festival Walk will be led by Mid Sussex Ramblers on Saturday morning at 10.30am while the more energetic can try a free Tennis Taster session at St John’s Park from 10am.

Bring your bunnies to the Library on Saturday at 2pm for a bumper session of rabbit tales followed by craft activities for ages 4 – 7 years.

Drop in to The Woolpack on Saturday to Meet the Artists who are exhibiting their work during the Summer Festival, or get creative yourself at the Painting and Collage Workshop on Sunday with local artist, Susan Driver, on Saturday from 2 – 5pm.

The popular Party in the Park returns to St John’s Park on Saturday, from 12 noon to 8pm, for a free afternoon of live Rock, Pop and Brit Pop.

On Sunday there will be free fun for all the family at the Summer Fayre in St John’s Park, from 11am – 4pm, with fairground rides, bouncy castles, miniature train rides, stalls, entertainment and much more.

The Festival concludes with a barrel of laughs at The Woolpack Comedy Club, with two top comedians hosted by TV presenter Miles Crawford, at 7.30pm. A great way to round off the 2017 Summer Festival.
