Successes celebrated at Aspire Sussex AGM

Aspire Sussex’s third Annual General Meeting took place last month at Marle Place Adult Education Centre, Burgess Hill.

Chairman, Dr Norman Boyland welcomed trustees and staff and reported on high levels of learner satisfaction, ‘strong cash generation and a doubling of cash reserves,’ which will help support the on-going success of the charity as they work to provide the greatest range of adult education opportunities reaching the widest range of people.

Two new Board Members, Lyn Glanz and David Smith, were welcomed to the Board of Trustees with each of them bringing high levels of enthusiasm and a wealth of experience and knowledge of higher education in various senior roles they have each held.

Staff at Aspire Sussex were praised for their ‘hard work, enthusiasm and application,’ with Dr Boyland also commenting that it is ‘a privilege to work alongside them.’

In celebration of their four years as Aspire Sussex the charity are preparing to launch their new Autumn / Winter programme in the first week in June which, for the first time will feature an early bird discount scheme.

Aspire Sussex have supported thousands of students to learn, enjoy and achieve and one example of this is Lisa who successfully completed a Level 2 Teaching and Learning qualification. ‘The course has been brilliant for me. My confidence, after being home for 7 years, has increased and I do feel able to apply for a job now, especially after having the weekly work experience.’
