Yes, it’s the end of the year, and as the great pairing of “The Two Ronnies”, (Corbett and Barker) ended their popular shows with “It’s goodnight from me, and goodnight from him”, I deign to put a spin on it with my title of thanks. So probably the thanks from me is obvious but not the “them”, so let me explain.
Well “me” as The Psychy Poet Laurie Wilkinson is quite evident, but the “them” as in the excellent charity Help for Heroes I support, is not.
So just to clarify this then, all above costs from my book sales, poems, stalls and presenting gigs and my regular monthly amount, donates to this much needed charity that looks after our wounded service personnel. “They suffered to help us, so we need to help their suffering” is a phrase that I coined, but I think sums it up nicely, don’t you?
Now it is perhaps making sense that I say thanks for all your support, encouragement, book purchases etc that allows me to further donate to Help for Heroes Official, and thus in my small but steady way, help “them”!
Of course those “them’s” are not anonymous but real people whose courage and commitment has, and still does, keep us safe, while requiring many sacrifices from these heroic stalwarts, some for life! We may not appreciate this all the time, as it is often only when things “go wrong” that we are aware?
Anyway from my perspective I have produced six books of my poetry now in under five years, and have only achieved this milestone with help from you, friends, supporters, book and poem purchasers etc, so again thank you!
