The BBC Licence – Extortionate Ransom on Pensioners!

The BBC waited until they had upped the Television Licence to an exorbitant or if you like extortionate ransom and then decided to take away the Pensioners Privilege of having a free pass.  We Pensioners having worked all of our lives deserve a little bit of free enterprise, after all, there is not much to cheer about in this day and age  with all businesses trying and succeeding in some cases of putting their hands in our pockets and stealing our money to line their own and what with Tax and Prices rising and the Government putting the Road Tax up and for a Hybrid car as an example it has risen from zero to £135.00 and subsequently larger and older cars will be paying much more each year.

It’s always the same – let’s make the Pensioners pay for our problems – we know some are on the bread line – but who cares “I’m all right Jack!”

The Joker in charge of the BBC should take a drop in his wages and that should at least pay half the bill he is hoping to achieve.  Let us take a look at the entertainment value that this service provides:

Lots of repeats and lots of repeats.  Very few new dramas, lots of advertising creeping in and lots of repeats and taking a peek round the back of the BBC is where all the damage is being done!  All these so-called celebrities getting exorbitant wages – is it really necessary?  As an example the King of a packet of Crisps gets 1.75 million a year and the Soap East Enders is being expanded and will cost £27 million – I am sure that the BBC think it is worth all that money and there must be millions of us who never watch the programme.  If they want to expand that particular soap they should budget within their own group like everyone else has to and when they can afford it they can implement the production and not expect everybody else to cough up for their extravagant ways.

It looks as though it’s back to the radio for me and our household, as I’m not prepared to pay their ransom of £150.50 a year.  For one thing my budget hasn’t taken in this extra amount that has been thrust upon us at short notice and two I can’t afford to pay for repeats at that price!

Just to set the record straight I do not get paid for writing this column – it is for the love of the job and trying to put right the things that are definitely wrong!

The above is just my opinion and anyone who wants to write to me care of the newspaper regarding the content – please do so!  Swear words are not accepted.
