The legendary tale of King Arthur is revived on stage by Michael Morpurgo and Story Pocket Theatre at the Connaught this September

Michael Morpurgo’s stage production of King Arthur is an epic tale of deep magic, heroism, love and betrayal, adapted from his novel Arthur: High King of Britain. The author of War Horse and Running Wild has collaborated with Story Pocket Theatre to present King Arthur live on stage at the Connaught Theatre on Saturday 30th September.

When a small boy becomes stranded at sea, he is rescued by a mysterious old man who claims to be King Arthur Pendragon. As the old man starts to tell his stories, the boy is transported back to the days of Camelot. Guided by Merlin, the young king pulls the sword from the stone to win the throne, puts the Saxons to the sword and unites the kingdom and gathers his Knights of the Round Table. But even at his happiest with his beautiful Queen Guinevere and best friend Lancelot, Arthur senses the end of Camelot is not far away.

Stories of brave chivalry and battles, the search for the Holy Grail and the great betrayal of Lancelot and Guinevere are all part of this new production from award-winning Story Pocket Theatre. Michael Morpurgo’s King Arthur is a fast-moving show of adventure, physical theatre, puppetry and outstanding storytelling for audiences aged 7+.
