WEALTH – Entertainment Millions of Pounds versus HEALTH – NHS NIL!

It must be said that during this pandemic the government have tried to tread a safe path to victory, but in their haste to get back to a more normality they have abandoned many casualties on their merry way!  I speak of the many dedicated persons that have braved the front line of defence and in many cases have fallen.  Doctors, Nurses and Carers don’t grow on trees.  Their learning is spent on how bodies function and prescribing the best way of treating the infection.  Many years of training will have taken place to reach this point and many sacrifices must have been endured along the way.

Boris Johnson has had first-hand knowledge of how they had looked after him during his illness with Covid-19 and yet not one of the promises he made to give the NHS the boost they needed to carry on with their excellent work has materialised.  Obviously they can’t hold strikes to carry their concerns to the government as this would jeopardise the well-being of their patients.  To cap it all the percentage of the pay rise they richly deserved was denied and Boris Johnson stated, ‘Where do you suppose I get the money from?’

Theatres and other centres of entertainment don’t have that problem because I know for a fact that The Congress Theatre in Eastbourne will receive £1.8 MILLION POUNDS plus another £400,000 to be shared between two other theatres, The Towner Art and the Tennis Complex.

Admittedly Eastbourne Council and I presume other Councils have only borrowed this money from the government and it will need to be paid back and it looks as if Senior Citizens plus others are going to be penalised again with HIGHER TAX DEMANDS.

These hidden and sly taxes can only be paid if pay rises are honoured and reflect the true value of cost of living standards.  We mortals are not rich, as those in charge make sure that we don’t get beyond the first rung of the ladder of success!

Invasion of Inflation!  The current consumer price inflation rate was 1.8% in January 2020.  This figure includes the consumer price inflation, producer price inflation and the House Price Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs but due to the economy fell to 1.7% in February 2020.  In 2021 the inflation rate of the CPI is expected to be 1.5% before rising to 1.8% in 2022.  In actual fact a low rate of inflation is a doubled edged sword for savers while a government rate means anything goes to get what they need from Tax Payers to bring inflation in line with what the rate should be.

The above is just my opinion and anyone who wants to write to me care of the newspaper regarding this content – please do so! – Swear words are not accepted.
